Susie Reed Photos · Sedona, AZ
About
Susie Reed is an award-winning Sedona photographer, tour guide and teacher, best known for her critically acclaimed photographs of Southwest rock art.
Approach
Susie works on location, photographing her subjects as she finds them rather than in a studio: Sedona's red rock landscapes, rock art, flowers and people. She first came across pictographs and petroglyphs on a Sedona vacation in 1995 and has photographed rock art ever since. She moved to Sedona from Sausalito in 2005 and lives near Cathedral Rock.
Her private tours take guests to stunning, out-of-the-way places, with insight into vortexes, sacred sites, rock art and archaeology, and any of them can become a photo tour. She teaches photographers at every level and with any gear, from camera settings and composition in the field to Photoshop and Lightroom, portfolio reviews and photo contest advice from an experienced contest judge. PhotographyTalk.com ranked her tours #2 on its list of the top photo workshops to attend in 2019.
Her photographs have been shown at the Cooper-Hewitt, the De Young Museum, the International Museum of Photography and the Library of Congress, and used in books, magazines, calendars, murals, television and Forest Service signs. She holds a degree with honors in photography from the San Francisco Art Institute, and joined Goldenstein Gallery in Sedona in 2009.
